Decorate your Dinner Table for Festive Fun
The season to be jolly is just around the corner – although *best sarcastic voice* you wouldn’t know it with the supermarket aisles and adverts entirely devoted to Christmas since mid October. Mince pies, stockings and mistletoe are just some of the small traditions that makes this such a special time of year for sharing with families and friends. What we all look forward to the most and what really embodies all that is festive is Christmas Lunch. Trying to create the perfect Christmas lunch is a task that takes careful planning and preparation. Harley & Lola is here to lend a helping hand and make sure that your set up is as magical and festive as possible - with plenty of room for guests as well.
The host with the most (room)
To begin, make sure that there will be enough room for everyone and that your table is going to bear the weight of the giant turkey plus all the trimmings. There is nothing more likely to ruin the atmosphere as jostling for elbow room and trying to avoid the knives and forks of the people sitting next to you. In personal space emergencies someone may even have to take the short straw and eat a lonely Christmas Dinner on the couch, teetering a laden plate on their lap. If you find your dining setup is a bit lacking, there is no better a time to invest in a new dining set that you will love for years to come. We have some exclusive dining set bundles available just in time for Christmas - meaning you can save 15% on a set of beautiful Baumhaus dining tables and chairs. An extending dining table may be perfect for you if you need to accommodate extra guests occasionally but would rather have a smaller set up on a day to day basis.
Deck the table with boughs of holly
Part of the magic that surrounds Christmas lunch is gathering round a table that looks every bit as wonderful as the food itself. With the right choice of decor a table can be transformed into a magical and festive winter wonderland theme. Silver and white creates a beautiful arrangement with a sparkle of elegance while gold is glamorous with both white and red. Add touches of natural detailing with wooden carvings, twigs and holly to complete the magical effect and have a table fit for a festive feast. Harley & Lola has selected some choice items from our tableware collection to help you impress your guests and delight your diners with festive splendour.
After a long night pulling Father Christmas's sleigh around, invite Dasher, Prancer, Rudolph and the gang to lunch. This delightful Silver Reindeer decoration makes an eye-catching centrepiece that instantly sets a festive theme - although we think that having all nine might be a bit much.
What table top is complete without candles? They may be a potential health and safety hazard with the amount of wine and bubbly consumed by all on Christmas Day, but since when have us Brits cared about a little thing like that? The Paisley Pillar Candle Holder is a lovely way of lifting candle decoration to the next level. With a couple of these stylish silver coloured pillars adorning your dinner table, a festive scene is guaranteed.
If these are a little too showy for what you had in mind, tealight holders can be just as wonderful. Our gold finished Star T-Light Holders will twinkle like stars in the night sky when scattered across a table top. If silver is your chosen colour then the Antler Double Candle Holders are a stunning centrepiece choice for table decor.
Feeding the Five Thousand
Sometimes it can feel a bit like this when hosting. With so much food to serve, you will definitely want to do justice to all of the effort that has gone into it by presenting with style. A dry, slightly overcooked turkey can be disguised with oodles of delicious sauce. The Bramble Dip Bowls and Caddy Bowls are a fantastic way to ensure each guest has plenty of cranberry and (my personal favourite) bread sauce to garnish their plate. These bowls also add style with ornate decoration in shiny silver.
Walnuts and chocolate treats are essential after dinner Christmas snacks, although after a hard morning of opening presents the supply may be depleted rapidly before lunch even begins. Display these delicious festive treats with bespoke serving dishes.
Full to bursting there is always room for a slither of cheese or two. Just make sure not to forget the crackers! The Bramble Cheese Board and Knife have matching ornate crafted handles designed in the same style as the Bramble bowls shown above, so make the perfect culinary Christmas set. The board is made from sustainable mango wood which displays a lovely rich dark grain.
As well as fabulous tableware we also have some stunning Christmas decorations and gift ideas available in our Christmas Shop. Come take a look and make the shopping easy this year!
