Why Mango Wood?
Mango wood is an extremely beautiful hardwood, which is becoming increasingly popular due to its greater sustainability over other popular hardwoods such as teak.
The mango tree can reach heights of up to 20 meters; however, in commercial mango fruit growing the trees are replaced before they reach this height. As the mango trees age they will eventually stop producing fruit.
Until recently the trees were chopped down and the wood discarded, however mango wood is now being used to produce furniture and other decorations for the home.
The beautiful grain is often made up of many different colours and tones, ranging from a dark or light green through browns and light tan colours. This stunning grain looks lovely in its natural form but looks even better with a coat or two of wax polish and provides a look that betters with age.
This stunning bowl shows the colouring and texture of the wood beautifully.
Wood from Mango trees is proving to be a far more reliable and sustainable product than most alternatives. The fact that the tree grows quickly means that it is far easier to sustain the demand, which has proven to be more difficult with other hard wood materials.
